Missions
The selected postdoc candidate will perform fundamental research on the neural mechanisms of human visual recognition, including semantic associations and naming of faces and written words. The research will be done with frequency-tagged electrophysiological activity (EEG, intracranial EEG), intracerebral electrical stimulation and neuropsychological measures. The regions explored are the ventral occipito-temporal cortex including the anterior temporal lobe.

Skills
Research experience and publications in neural studies of visual recognition, semantics and naming. Knowledge of stimulation, recording and analysis techniques in cognitive neuroscience.
The candidate should have a PhD degree in neuroscience, cognitive science, biology, engineering, psychology or equivalent. Ideally, he/she should also have a good level in French and a solid background in cognitive neuroscience. Knowledge of electrophysiology/neuropsychology, programming skills (e.g., R, Matlab or Python) and a good level of English are a plus. High motivation, curiosity, creativity, perseverance and the ability to work in a team are also key personal skills.

The successful candidate will be supervised by Bruno Rossion, in collaboration with Jacques Jonas.

The successful PhD candidate will become a full member of the Systems and Cognitive Neuroscience group of the CNRS laboratory IMoPA UMR7365, Université de Lorraine (Nancy, East of France). The research group is a small unit tightly linked to clinical research at the university hospital of Nancy (CHRU), including researchers in neuroscience, cognitive science, neuropsychologists and neurologists. He/she will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities at Université de Lorraine, CNRS and CHRU-Nancy.
