Missions
The postdoc (M/F) will work with our collaborators at the LJP (Laboratoire Jean Perrin, Paris) to study yielding in cellular materials, specifically in emulsions. The postdoc (M/F) will analyze experimental data and compare to simulations that they will carry out.
Activités
- Numerically study a vertex model for emulsions ;
- Analyze experimental imaging data of emulsions ;
- Coarse-grain emulsions and vertex models in terms of a mesoscopic models ;
- Compare yielding in experiment and simulations depending of control parameters such as adhesion and packing fraction ;
- Presentation of the results at international conferences ;
- Writing of articles for peer-reviewed journals .
Compétences
- Expertise in studying soft matter systems ;
- Experience in applying coarse-grained descriptions to such systems ;
- Scientific writing .
Contexte de travail
The position starts on April, 2026, and is for 1 year, and is foreseen to be prolonged by additional 2 years.
The work will be carried out in the group of Matthias Merkel at the Center for Theoretical Physics (CPT) at Aix-Marseille University, but there will be a close collaboration with the group of Léa-Laetitia Pontani (LJP).
