Missions
In the frame of its instrumental developments for astronomy, the LAM is seeking for a scientist (PhD), to work on on-going and future optical instrumentation involving innovative optics.
The selected scientist will have the opportunity to work on several aspects of the instrumental Research and development:
- Realisation of the CASTLE telescope, installation and commissioning in 2026.
- Involvement in the upgrades of the PAPYRUS adaptive optics module and its improvement on a 1.8m telescope.
- Realization of a camera for Neurosciences studies.
- Positionning on the different experimental test-set-ups at LAM.
Activités
- Follow-up on the different experimental test set-ups at LAM : adaptive optics, coronagraphy, interferometry, optical fabrication and testing.
- Involvmentin the realization of a camera prototype for neurosciences studies.
- Installation and commissioning of the CASTLE telescope at Calar Alto, Spain.
- Involvement in the development of the MISTRAL+ instrument for the Observatoire de Haute Provence.
- Involvement in the Papyrus AO module upgrade.
Possible activities include :
- In-Lab assembly integration and tests.
- On-site installation and organisation.
- Commissionning on-site.
- Performance verification.
- Remote Command/control of telescopes.
Compétences
- Optics and optical aberrations.
- Optical alignments.
- Assembly integration and tests of instrumentation or test set-ups.
- English, fluent.
Applicants must have experience in instrumental optics.

The selected candidate will be hosted in an international team dedicated to research and development in astronomical instrumentation and telescopes.
