Missions

The candidate will theoretically investigate the electronic properties of multiferroic tunnel junctions using both models and first-principles calculations to support and guide experimental advances. We will study both heterostructures combining ferromagnetism and ferroelectricity and novel monolayers such as, among others, SnTe, GaSe, and CuCrSe2. The candidate will investigate the influence of ferroelectricity on magnetic anisotropy and the impact of magnetic configuration on ferroelectricity and associated charge accumulation. Special attention will be paid to quantum spin, charge, and orbital tunneling through the ferroelectric barrier. In-house coding as well as numerical software such as Quantum Espresso and the commercial code QuantumATK will be used to simulate the magnetoelectric and transport properties.

Contexte de travail

This position is funded by the PEPR SPIN “MULTISPIN” project. Collaborations with the theory team of SPEC lab (CEA, Saclay), and with the experimental teams at Albert Fert Laboratory (Saclay) and IPCMS (Strasbourg) are expected.
