Job Description
Missions
The successful candidate will lead research activities involving in situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and 4D-STEM, while developing external collaborations to complement these studies and provide a comprehensive understanding of degradation processes in perovskite solar cells.
We are looking for an independent and proactive researcher with the ability to drive the project forward and interact effectively with the laboratory's microscopy team as well as national and international collaborators.
Activity
The main responsibilities will include:
-Design and fabrication of photoactive layers and solar cell architectures.
-Synthesis of perovskite semiconductor nanoparticles.
-Preparation of thin films and multilayer stacks, including charge extraction layers, on MEMS devices.
-Structural, optical, and electronic characterization of thin films.
-Development and optimization of experimental protocols for in situ TEM, STEM, and 4D-STEM measurements.
-Investigation of reaction and degradation mechanisms using in situ TEM and complementary characterization techniques.
-Planning and execution of research activities, data analysis, preparation of reports and scientific publications, and dissemination of research results.
-Collaborative work, including coordination and regular interactions with external academic partners.
Your Profil
Skills
Hands-on experience in advanced electron microscopy techniques, including in situ TEM, STEM, and 4D-STEM.
Strong background in materials science and structural characterization using techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD) and selected-area electron diffraction (SAED).
Experience in data science, data processing, and advanced analysis of multidimensional datasets.
Your Work Environment
The position is part of the ERC Advanced Grant project "GEMINI". The research will be carried out in a chemistry laboratory internationally recognized for its work in energy conversion and storage. The host team has a strong track record in photovoltaics and photocatalysis, combining fundamental research with application-oriented developments.
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary environment bringing together chemists, physicists, and process engineers, with regular interactions aimed at developing innovative and complementary research approaches.
The working environment encourages scientific autonomy, initiative, and responsibility, while providing opportunities to develop and implement new methodologies.
The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities, including a next-generation electron microscope dedicated to addressing both fundamental and applied questions related to the project, with a particular focus on degradation mechanisms in halide perovskites. External collaborations are expected, notably for sample preparation using focused ion beam (FIB) techniques and for access to complementary microscopy and characterization facilities.
Constraints and risks
Potential risks associated with the synthesis, handling, and use of chemical substances, requiring strict adherence to laboratory safety procedures and regulations.
Compensation and benefits
