Missions

-The engineer (M/F) will participate in the ACV-PAT project (2024-2026), which aims to develop scenarios for the reterritorialization of food systems, particularly agricultural reclamation, with low environmental impact. The position involves participating in the assessment of the impact of agricultural recovery projects on water resources and comparing them with the strengths and weaknesses of the territory. If possible, it will also involve proposing recommendations for innovative water management solutions for the implementation of these scenarios. This work is being carried out at the level of the Alpes-Maritimes department and includes a strong participatory science dimension, in order to identify how to overcome potential obstacles at different levels and improve the appropriation of results by local actors.

Activities

- Structure, harmonize, and integrate geographic data from databases,
- Perform spatial and statistical analyses,
- Produce thematic maps at different scales (watershed, intermunicipal communities, Alpes-Maritimes department),
- Participate in the drafting and dissemination of scientific publications,
- Be a source of proposals for promoting the results.

Skills

1. Required knowledge:
- Solid knowledge of water management in the Mediterranean region.
- Proficiency in QGIS and R-Studio tools
2. Required professional skills:
- Ability to perform statistical and spatial analyses.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
3. Interpersonal skills:
- Ability to communicate and work effectively in French and English.
- Ability to adapt to a multidisciplinary research team and collaborate with local stakeholders.

Work Context

The position is attached to the CNRS ESPACE 7300 joint research unit located in Nice at the Université Côte d'Azur. The engineer will work under the scientific supervision of Stéphane Bouissou and in close collaboration with Isabelle La Jeunesse, coordinator of the “Water in the Alpes-Maritimes” partnership chair.

Constraints and risks

- Work mainly in an office environment (GIS, databases, spatial analysis).
- Possible short-term travel (meetings, workshops).
- Requires rigorous documentation and scientific ethics in the processing and dissemination of data.
