Missions
The transformation of biomass-derived products into valuable nitrogen-containing compounds remains a major challenge today. However, global demand for these compounds continues to grow, as amines are sought after for their unique properties as corrosion inhibitors, in the formulation of paints, coatings, and detergents, as well as for applications in cosmetics and the food industry.
This project aims to develop a one-step catalytic synthesis that is both active and selective for converting polyols into high-value, bio-based amines via direct amination using ammonia or primary amines.
Activités
Catalytic tests for glycerol amination in liquid phase
Analysis of the formed products
Identification of reaction mechanisms
Compétences
The research engineer recruited at IC2MP will be expected to have solid knowledge in the field of catalysis as applied to organic chemistry. The candidate should also be curious and imaginative, capable of challenging the team by proposing, for instance, radically different approaches. Expertise in catalytic testing under pressure and in analysis techniques such as HPLC and NMR will be considered an asset.
Contexte de travail
This research will be carried out at the CNRS, within the Institute of Chemistry of Environments and Materials of Poitiers (IC2MP), located at the University of Poitiers. IC2MP is a joint research unit between the University of Poitiers and the CNRS, working on the design of sustainable reactions and products. It is an interdisciplinary institute that focuses on (1) the design of clean processes (catalysis, bio-solvents, renewable energies, alternative technologies, etc.) and (2) the transfer and bioaccumulation of organic molecules in ecosystems.
In this project, the selected candidate will join the "Catalysis in Unconventional Media" team. This team conducts research on (1) replacing fossil carbon with renewable carbon, and (2) developing clean technologies for chemistry. The candidate will have full access to IC2MP's analytical platform (PLATINA), which includes all major equipment needed to characterize organic molecules and catalysts generated during the project (XPS, XRD, TEM/SEM, mass spectrometry, NMR, etc.).
Contraintes et risques
The candidate will be subject to the laboratory's internal regulations regarding all hygiene and safety rules.
Occasional short assignments in France or abroad may be required.
