Missions

The Assistant Engineer (M/F) will contribute to the development and implementation of connectors enabling the MetaboLinkAI assistant (https://www.metabolinkai.net) to interact with external tools and databases essential for metabolomics research. These integrations will transform the assistant into a comprehensive tool capable of executing end-to-end tasks for researchers.
This position is part of the broader MetaboLinkAI project but focuses on a specific module achievable within 7 months. The Assistant Engineer will work under the direct supervision of the Principal Research Engineer.

Activities

- Develop API connectors for integrating the AI assistant with external metabolomics databases (e.g., HMDB, MassBank, MetaboLights)
- Develop API connectors for spectrometric analysis tools and metabolomics data processing software
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation of the developed integrations
Implement testing and validation procedures to ensure connector reliability
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to resolving technical issues related to integrations

Skills

Technical Skills
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in computer science, software development, or bioinformatics
- Proficiency in Python programming language and object-oriented programming concepts
- Experience with REST APIs and data exchange protocols (JSON, XML)
- Knowledge of system integration principles and software architecture
- Desired experience with version control tools (Git)
- Basic knowledge in biology or chemistry appreciated, but not mandatory

Work Context

The position is based at the Nice Institute of Chemistry, within the HolobiomicsLab directed by Dr. Louis-Félix Nothias (D2MS Team), in close collaboration with Dr. Fabien Gandon (Wimmics, 3iS, INRIA) and with regular interactions with other partner teams in France and Switzerland. If desired, the main workplace could be an associated team at the Interdisciplinary Institute of Artificial Intelligence (3IA) in Sophia-Antipolis.
