Missions
The tasks involve the design and fabrication of passive microwave functions (resonators, air bridges, …) with superconducting materials at cryogenic temperatures. The candidate will be in touch with standard clean room technologies (sputtering, mask aligners, …) and non-conventional ones. These components will need to be designed to fit into a microwave architecture capable of addressing spin qubits at very low temperatures in dilution refrigerators. The researcher will be responsible for the design and electromagnetic modeling of the components, their production, observation and analysis, and will be involved in their measurement on a test bench with a partner. This activity will be carried out with the support of manufacturing and measurement engineers and will be co-supervised by researchers from the University of Limoges and members of the project Miracle_Q in the frame of the french PEPR Quantique program (https://www.pepr-quantique.fr/en/projet/miracle_q-2/).

Contexte de travail
The recruitment will take place within the XLIM Research Institute, a multidisciplinary joint research unit (UMR – CNRS 7252), in association with the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). The Institute brings together more than 500 people with expertise covering a wide range of fields, including electronics and microwaves, optics and (bio)photonics, mathematics, computer science, and image processing.
This activity is related to the french Miracle_Q project in the PEPR Quantique framework (https://www.pepr-quantique.fr/projet/miracle_q/) and will involve collaboration with researchers from other French laboratories (CEA Leti, Sorbonne Université, …). In this context, the candidate will be required to participate in the project progress meetings and the drafting of scientific documents (progress reports, presentations) and may be required to undertake research visits to these partners and interact with them. As the various facilities are located in restricted access areas, background checks and nationality restrictions may apply in addition to the technical skills requirements for candidates.
The position is located in a sector subject to the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST) and therefore, in accordance with regulations, your appointment requires authorization from the competent authority of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR).
Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.
Contraintes et risques
The microwave components will be manufactured in the Xlim laboratory's clean room. The candidate must comply with the rules of use and safety for this room as well as those for other technical environments (microwave instrumentation room, electron microscopy, etc.) in which he/she will be required to work.
