Missions
"The mission associated with this position is to develop an optical component for high-energy lasers. This optical component, called a metasurface, will be designed to focus a monochromatic laser beam. The objective will be to use simulation software to determine the appropriate structuring that leads to the desired properties.
Activités
A first activity will involve studying the main structuring approaches compatible with the chosen material in order to focus the beam at a desired focal distance and withstand high laser energies. A second activity will be to follow the cleanroom fabrication of the optical component. A third activity will consist in characterizing the optical properties of the fabricated component.
Compétences
"Strong skills in optics, photonics, and electromagnetism are expected. A solid background in optics and photonics is required for this position. Knowledge in the field of metasurfaces will be highly valued. Experience with Matlab, Python, FORTRAN/C/C++, LaTeX, and other software tools will be appreciated.
Contexte de travail
The project will be carried out at the Fresnel Institute in Marseille, France (https://www.fresnel.fr/), within the Clarte research team. The Clarte group at the Fresnel Institute has recognized expertise in the development of numerical electromagnetic methods, as well as in the design and analysis of optical components and nanostructures. This project aims to model, design, and analyze Mie-resonant metasurfaces with highly specific spectral characteristics, as well as optical metasurfaces. The Fresnel Institute, which includes around 200 members, is a research laboratory affiliated with Aix-Marseille University, the CNRS, and Centrale Méditerranée. It is located on the Saint-Jérôme campus in Marseille.
