Job Description

Missions

The postdoctoral researcher will support interns and PhD students, contribute expertise to the development of atomistic-continuum coupling, and explore new data-driven learning approaches.

Activity

• Supervision: Support PhD students in atomistic simulations for data generation and plasticity mechanism analysis.
• Research: Develop models for atomistic-continuum coupling, integrating generative AI for dislocation field creation.
• Innovation: Explore coarse-graining for nano→meso scale transitions and dislocation transmission criteria at grain boundaries (crystallography, energy).

Your Profil

Skills

• PFDD and crystal plasticity (CP-CDT)
• Generative AI (GAN) for virtual microstructures
• Multi-scale methods (coarse-graining)
• Open-source code development (Python, C++)
• Supervision of students and PhD candidates
• Autonomy and teamwork
• Adaptability and interdisciplinary collaboration

Your Work Environment

This position is part of the ambitious ERC Consolidator Grant AtomicPIE project, led by Dr. Julien Guénolé, hosted by CNRS at the LEM3 laboratory (Metz) in collaboration with SIMaP (Grenoble). The AtomicPIE project aims to combine atomistic simulations, machine learning, and experimental validation to revolutionize the understanding of plasticity at interfaces in crystalline materials.
The candidate will work in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment, collaborating with experts in materials science, micromechanical modeling, and experimental validation. The LEM3 laboratory provides access to state-of-the-art computational and experimental facilities, fostering innovation and high-impact research. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to top-tier scientific publications and the development of open-source tools, while engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration within a vibrant research community.
