Missions
Gammapy is an open Python library for astrophysical very-high-energy gamma-ray data analysis. Amongst its features, it enables joint fits of heterogeneous data sets, e.g. from different event types, from different gamma-ray instruments. Some work have also demonstrated that multi-wavelength (from optical to ultra- high-energy photons) or multi-messenger (gamma-ray and neutrino) are possible with Gammapy.
The main objective of this position is to set up the Gammapy ability to handle different input data formats stored in disk or in VO servers, to support the creation of FAIR data and to foster reproducibility by adding provenance information. The retained candidate will implement the needed functionalities to enable these features.
In parallel of this work, the retained physicist will be able to start or continue researches on different science topics, for galactic or extragalactic objects. The requited person will achieve these research studies within the
H.E.S.S. and CTAO collaborations.

Contexte de travail
Gammapy is open research library developed by a consortium of French, German, Spanish and Italian developers. It will be the main library for the Science Analysis Tool (SAT) of the CTA observatory (CTAO), which will be distributed freely. The APC, MPIK of Heidelberg (Germany) and LUTh teams are heavily involved in the Gammapy project since its inception and has major responsibilities within the project (Lead
Developers, Project Manager, IVOA expert).
The project's team are strongly involved in the H.E.S.S. experiment (responsible for an analysis chain that produces high-level H.E.S.S. FITS data) and heavily involved for CTAO, both on the scientific side (AGN, redshift, PSR/PWN, SNR, galactic center, PeVatrons) and on the software side (data model, science analysis tool, proposal handling tools, science data challenge, science platform, data dissemination). Some team's members are strongly involved in the HAWC observatory and in the SWGO project (high-level data analysis). The recruited candidate will then work closely with this team, and within the APC “High Energy Astrophysics” thematic group (Integral, SVOM, Athena, H.E.S.S., CTAO, KM3NeT, Jem-EUSO, theory).
This position is funded by the European program OSCARS (Open Science Cluster's Action for Research & Society). It involves 5 science clusters of research infrastructures during four years. The aim is to develop sustainable interdisciplinary FAIR data services and working practices, and to consolidate the achievements
of the scientific groups to date. Within this project, Gammapy will be improved to follow as much as possible the FAIR4RS principles by properly handling FAIR data, producing FAIR data and enabling the data provenance feature. The FAIRisation of Gammapy is also required for the SAT of CTAO.
Contraintes et risques
The young researcher will work at the laboratory APC (AstroParticule et Cosmologie) located at University Paris Cité in Paris 13ème. She/he will be led to travel in Europe (mainly) for working missions.
