Job Description
Missions
The advent of large galaxy surveys such as Euclid presents numerous modeling challenges. The ERC COLIBRI project specifically aims to develop new theoretical and numerical tools to overcome one of these challenges: baryon modeling. The person hired for this position will actively contribute to the development of models for large-scale structures as probed through galaxy clustering and weak gravitational lensing, with a particular focus on the impact of baryonic physics.
Activity
This work will draw on advanced hydrodynamic simulations developed within the group and is part of the scientific preparation for large-scale galaxy surveys such as Euclid. One of the main focuses of the position will be the development of post-processing tools for analyzing large-scale cosmological hydrodynamic simulations produced using the RAMSES code. The candidate will contribute to the scientific analysis of these simulations, working closely with Sandrine Codis (AIM) and Yohan Dubois (IAP) as part of the ERC COLIBRI project.
Your Profil
Skills
In addition to this collaborative work, independent research and initiative will be strongly encouraged. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in physics or astronomy at the time of appointment. We are particularly seeking candidates with strong computational skills, particularly in high-performance computing (HPC) and hydrodynamic/cosmological simulations, as well as in-depth expertise in cosmology and galaxy formation.
Your Work Environment
The CEA's Department of Astrophysics plays a leading role in several international observation programs (including Euclid) and in major high-performance computing projects (cosmological and galactic simulations, code development). The successful candidate will also benefit from the vibrant scientific community on the Paris-Saclay University campus and in the Paris region. The contract is for a period of 2 years, with a salary commensurate with experience. Substantial funding will be available for conferences, travel, and equipment.
