Job Description
Missions
Within the context of evolutionary research into the origins of hemispheric specialization for human language, the job involves evaluating and quantifying individual neuroanatomical brain asymmetries in baboons during development. This approach focuses on the structural and functional connectivity of language-homologous areas and their gestural correlates.
Activity
- Pre-processing of multimodal MRI images (T1w, T2w, diffusion, resting-state) for each baboon
- Extraction of white matter tracts homologous to language pathways (e.g., the arcuate fasciculus)
- Documentation of their fronto-temporal terminations, structural inter-hemispheric asymmetries, and inter-individual variability during development
- Measurement of intra-hemispheric functional connectivity correlation strengths between key language-homologous areas—and their inter-hemispheric asymmetries during development—using resting-state functional images for each baboon
Your Profil
Skills
- Strong skills in the pre-processing, processing, and analysis of anatomical, diffusion and resting-state brain MRI images from non-human primates
- Mastery of relevant scientific literature and issues regarding primate brain evolution
- Statistical skills, experience in writing scientific articles in English, and presenting research at international conferences
Your Work Environment
Workstation and office space provided at the CRPN laboratory, with access to the database of anatomical and diffusion brain MRI images of baboons.
