Job Description
Missions
Implement the development policy for information and communication technologies by improving the interpretability of generative models (iLoRA, concept-based) to analyze style as a latent variable. Contribute to research valorization and knowledge dissemination by optimizing AI art prompting, through the analysis of artistic corpora, the multimodal (image/text) adaptation of iLoRA, and the publication of reports and code to ensure reproducibility.
Activity
- Lead the interdisciplinary project "Frugal Approaches in Generative AI for Art and Design" in collaboration with the SiMul project-team at the CRAN laboratory. Ensure the implementation and management of the required software tools (storage, GPU access, open-source licenses) and deliverables (artworks, documentation, reports).
- Define the project specifications to adapt existing methods for lightweight training or fine-tuning (LoRA/iLoRA) of generative AI models, addressing the challenge of separating distinct style aspects (e.g., Impressionism, Expressionism, Surrealism), in collaboration with the research team.
- Define the roadmap for audiovisual and multimedia productions within the project, integrating AI-assisted creation of artistic works (images, videos) using cutting-edge models (e.g., Stable Diffusion, Qwen, Flux). Specify the required datasets (image corpora, texts, artistic styles).
- Design the editorial framework (synopses, scripts) for productions incorporating AI-generated elements, enriching artistic styles (Impressionism, Expressionism, Surrealism) through tailored prompts and parameters.
- Provide advice on technical methods and solutions tailored to the educational environment, including the setup and maintenance of work environments (ComfyUI, Python interfaces, Docker containers), as well as the automation of generation pipelines (scripts, workflows).
Your Profil
Skills
- Master's degree
- Qualification in art, design, or audiovisual fields
- Fluency in English
- Strong project management and communication skills
- Proven artistic practice (portfolio) with experience using generative AI tools
- Hands-on experience with open-source tools (e.g., ComfyUI)
- Educational/teaching experience in AI for art
- Basic knowledge of fine-tuning (LoRA) and Python
- Advanced prompt engineering experience: ability to craft precise, nuanced descriptions (style, emotion, context) to guide AI generation
- File management, cloud storage, and preparation of image/text datasets for model fine-tuning
Your Work Environment
The CRAN is a Joint Research Unit (UMR 7039) run jointly by the University of Lorraine (Scientific Cluster in Automatics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Their Interactions – AM2I) and the CNRS (SI – Computer Science Institute). The laboratory has around 120 lecturers and researchers, approximately 100 PhD students, post-doctoral researchers and trainees, and 33 engineers, technicians and administrative staff spread across eight sites, making a total of around 250 people.
The laboratory is organized into three departments, CID, MPSI et BioSiS:
- The CID Department (Control, Identification, Diagnosis) consolidates all of CRAN's research activities in control systems for continuous dynamic and cyber-physical systems.
- The MPSI Department (Modeling, Control, and Safety of Industrial Systems) primarily focuses on industrial systems, with applications spanning the Industry of the Future, cyber-physical systems, communication networks, transportation, construction, and energy.
- The BioSiS Department (Biology, Signals, and Systems in Oncology and Neurosciences) brings together biologists, clinicians, and digital specialists. Its health research—both fundamental and translational—focuses on oncology and neurosciences.
The recruited individual will join the BioSiS Department, specifically the SiMul project (Multidimensional Signals). The laboratory is spread across 8 sites, and the recruited individual will be based at the Campus Aiguillettes of the Faculty of Science and Technology.
