Job Description
Missions
The aim of this study is to characterize the unsteady rheological properties of blood in order to derive a constitutive law that can be used to describe physiological flows. These flows are pulsatile, and under shear the microstructure of red blood cells is out of equilibrium, leading to a transient viscosity that differs from the steady-state viscosity.
Activity
The postdoctoral researcher will develop rheometry protocols to eliminate or correct for inertial effects in the measurement of transient viscosity during the application of stress step inputs. They will also characterize, using PIV, the flow of a blood analogue in a tube and investigate the impact of flow pulsatility, wall deformability, and tube curvature.
Your Profil
Skills
Advanced rheological measurements
Velocity field measurements by Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV)
Physics of suspensions
Your Work Environment
The postdoctoral position will be carried out within the framework of a PEPR project, whose consortium includes two additional teams alongside the concentrated suspension rheology group. The overall project comprises several numerical work packages, and the postdoctoral researcher recruited at INPHYNI, whose work will be primarily experimental, is expected to collaborate closely with the numerical teams from the two partner groups.
