Missions

Two members of the LP2IB neutrino groups are part of the
ENUBET collaboration since its beginning leading the working group related to
the simulation and systematics assessment.

Activities

Given the present implication and know how of the full
simulation chain the LP2IB group is in the best position to implement the
PICOSEC-Micromegas detector in the ENUBET tagger simulation and to
evaluate its potential impact on the signal selection efficiency and background
reduction thanks to the improved temporal signal. The candidate will have a
leading role in the simulation development and on the physics potential of the
newly proposed detector for ENUBET. Furthermore he/she will participate to the
systematics assessment of ENUBET, and the prototype test beams and data
analysis.

Skills

Applicants should have their PhD (in nuclear or
particle physics) at the time of starting date. A good knowledge of the standard
simulation tools used in particle physics are required (GEANT4, ROOT etc.) as
well as good programming skills in commonly used languages such as C++ and
python. A good experience in neutrino physics, in particular on long baseline
experiments, would be an advantage.

Work Context

The PIMENT project, funded by ANR in 2022 for a
duration of 3 years aims at the development of a detector based on PICOSECMicromegas
technology for the ENUBET experiment. ENUBET, which stands for
Enhanced NEutrino BEams from kaon Tagging, is an ERC funded experiment
which aims at developing a monitored neutrino beam with an unprecedented
precision for a reduction on the flux and cross section knowledge by an order of
magnitude with respect to present knowledge. This will be a key element for
systematics reductions of future long baseline neutrino experiments.
