Missions

The researcher will work within a team of biologists and computer scientists at the ENS de Lyon to test the role of temporal information provided by auxin in controlling cell identities and the timing of organogenesis in the shoot apical meristem in plants.

Activités

The researcher will combine methods from molecular biology and genetics (cloning, genetic transformation of plants, genotyping, phenotypic analysis, etc.) and synthetic biology to investigate how the regulation of histone acetylation in response to the hormone auxin affects the timing of cell identity acquisition during organogenesis in the shoot apical meristem of Arabidopsis thaliana. In particular, he/she will develop new tools and methodologies to modify the dynamics of histone acetylation at loci regulated by auxin. He/she may use imaging and/or single-cell genomics approaches to analyze the impact on transcriptional responses during organogenesis. He/she will use standard softwares, as well as softwares developed in the RDP laboratory in collaboration with him/her if necessary, for the analysis of imaging and genomics data that he/she generates. He/she will actively participate in the design of experiments and implement them independently.

Compétences

• Excellent knowledge of plant physiology and development, and of the mechanisms regulating gene expression, notably in response to plant hormones.
• Strong expertise in molecular biology, genetics and molecular genetics of plants.
• Knowledge of synthetic biology approaches in plants
• Expertise in genomics (e.g., RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, DAP-seq, ATAC-seq, including single-cell/nucleus analysis) and corresponding data analysis.
• Ability to independently design, execute, and analyze experimental results.
• Excellent ability to integrate into and work as part of a team.
• Excellent skills in presenting results both in writing and orally.
• English: read, written, spoken.

Contexte de travail

The researcher will work in the SIGNAL ("Signalisation hormonale et développement") team of the Reproduction et Développement des Plantes Laboratory (RPD, CNRS UMR 5667, Lyon), see http://www.ens-lyon.fr/RDP/signalisation-hormonale-et-developpement/.
Located on the Monod campus of the ENS Lyon, the RDP laboratory brings together 120 collaborators in 9 research teams.
