Missions

This postdoctoral position is part of the European project DynaMorph, which aims to develop shape morphing structures, whose dynamics and deformation trajectory can be programmed.
The main mission will consist in manufacturing architected structures containing a network of cavities using conventional rapid prototyping tools (3D printing, molding, laser cutting, etc.) and studying the mechanics and homogenized deformation when the cavities are pressurised, first on simple structures to calibrate and validate the theoretical model, then on more complex structures, results of the resolution of an inverse problem.
A second objective will be to characterize the effective viscoelastic behavior when the cavities are filled with a viscous fluid, by focusing on the coupling between the fluid and the elastic structure.

Activités

The activities will be:
- Experimental: manufacturing of architected structures by additive manufacturing and molding, control of flow and pressure in cavities, deformation characterization by DIC (digital image correlation), mechanical tests to characterize the homogenized behavior.
- Theoretical: development of a minimal model to rationalize the deformation according to the internal pressure, nonlinear homogenization of the structure, fluid structure interaction.

The project being vast and at its beginning, there is the possibility of defining more precisely the experiments to be set up and the theoretical approaches with the candidate.

Compétences

- taste for experiments and modeling
- Knowledge in mechanical instabilities, non-linear physics, fluid-structure interaction, low Reynolds flow, homogenization, differential geometry.

Contexte de travail

The Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Physics (https://liphy.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/) is a joint research unit of the CNRS and the University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA) located on the Grenoble Campus, surrounded by 3 mountain ranges (Belledonne, Chartreuse, Vercors), oriented towards a strong interdisciplinarity (Physics, mechanics, biophysics, environment). The unit includes 9 research teams, 65 researchers/teacher-researchers, 35 engineers and technicians and administrators, approximately 50 doctoral students and post-doctoral students.

The recruited person will join the Move team, made up of 8 permanent researchers and 5 doctoral and postdoctoral students.

Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.
