Missions
The postdoctoral researcher will explore different manufacturing routes for MEAs, which will be used to analyze the influence of their mechanical properties on the friction coefficient and durability of the membrane. He will also be in charge of analyzing the MEAs, in order to measure their morphological, chemical, and functional properties.
Activities
Main tasks:
- Develop MEAs using appropriate components (commercial membranes, ionomers, Pt/C catalysts, and GDLs). - Define a robust protocol for ultrasonic spray deposition of the catalyst layer (either on the membrane or the GDL). - Define a robust protocol and ideal conditions for MEA assembly to achieve optimal performance for interface studies.
Secondary tasks: - Measure the morphological, chemical, and functional properties of the components and the system, according to the project's needs. - Provide weekly progress reports and disseminate results through participation in conferences or scientific publications.
Skills
- Master the development of catalytic layer deposition processes and define robust protocols leading to performance that meets given specifications. - Master the development of hot pressing processes for the development of functional MEAs and define robust protocols leading to performance that meets given specifications. - Independently conduct characterization tests on components and systems in operation. - Write project documents (analysis reports and project reviews with presentation materials) and scientific dissemination documents (conference proceedings, scientific publications, conferences).
Work Context
LEPMI, UMR 5279 CNRS, is an electrochemistry laboratory whose research focuses primarily on energy and sustainable development. The work will be conducted between the Saint Martin d'Hères (EIP Team) and Bourget du Lac (GUIDE Team) sites. http://lepmi.grenoble-inp.fr/
The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
