Missions
The LHCEP laboratory is seeking a motivated and passionate postdoctoral researcher to join our team as part of an ERC-funded project. This project aims to develop new methodologies and reagents for pentafluorosulfanylation, an emerging field in organic chemistry with potential applications in materials chemistry and pharmaceutical synthesis.
Activities
Within our LHCEP laboratory, you will be responsible for:
• Designing and conducting chemical synthesis experiments for the development of new pentafluorosulfanylation reagents.
• Optimizing reaction methods to improve yields and selectivity.
• Characterizing the obtained products using advanced analytical techniques (NMR spectroscopy, chromatography, mass spectrometry, etc.).
• Developing new methodologies, techniques, or approaches to address research questions.
• Writing scientific papers to publish results in high-level scientific journals and presenting the work at national and international conferences.
• Participating in internal seminars and discussing research progress with team members.
• Collaborating with other researchers and team members on interdisciplinary projects.
Skills
Experience in organic chemistry with various synthesis methodologies, including cross-coupling reactions, functional group transformations, and asymmetric synthesis.
Knowledge of characterization and analytical techniques.
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy for structure elucidation.
Mass Spectrometry (MS) for molecular weight determination and fragmentation analysis.
Ability to work independently and in a team, good organizational skills, and motivation to conduct innovative research projects.
Excellent command of scientific English, both written and spoken.
Work Context
The candidate will be integrated into the Fluore team within the Laboratory of Hydrazines and Polyazoted Energetic Compounds (UCBL/CNRS/CNES/ArianeGroup).
The laboratory has internationally recognized expertise (NASA, U.S. Defense Energy Center Support / DESC, etc.) in the fundamental chemistry of N-N interactions, including hydrazines, their precursors, and polyazoted derivatives for space propulsion and fine chemistry. Additionally, it specializes in fluorine chemistry, focusing on finding alternatives to PFAS derivatives.
The candidate will work in an international environment.
The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
