Missions
The team at IRAP responsible for the Mercury Electron Analyzer (MEA) instruments on board the BepiColombo space mission is seeking a scientist to carry out the following tasks starting from September 1, 2025 (T0):
1. Preparation of telecommands and operations for the initial commissioning phase during orbit insertion and until August 2026.
2. Ingestion into the processing, analysis, and visualization tools of the Spatial Plasma Phy-sics Center (CDPP, https://cdpp.irap.omp.eu), particularly the Clweb and AMDA tools (https://amda.cdpp.eu), of all data obtained during the cruise phase, including planetary flybys from the Mercury Plasma Particle Experiment (MPPE), Plasma Wave Instrument (PWI), Magnetometer (MGF) on the Mio orbiter, and the Planetary Ion CAMera (PICAM), Mercury Ion Plasma Analyzer (MIPA), and magnetometer (MPO-MAG) instruments on the Mercury Planetary Orbiter.

Contexte de travail
IRAP (https://www.irap.omp.eu) is a joint research unit under the supervision of CNRS, Universi-té Paul Sabatier, and CNES. It is a laboratory of the Observatoire Midi-Pyrénées (OMP) with approximately 300 members, making it the largest laboratory in the field of "Astrophysics and As-tronomy" in France. The MEA (Mercury Electron Analyzer) instrument consists of two electron spectrometers (3eV-26keV) designed and built at IRAP, which is part of the MPPE (Mercury Plasma Particle Environment) experiment aimed at studying the populations of charged particles in the magnetized environment of Mercury, its magnetosphere, and the interaction of the latter with the solar wind.
This experiment is onboard the MMO (Mercury Magnetospheric Orbiter, renamed Mio after launch) satellite developed by the Japanese Space Agency (JAXA) for the BepiColombo mission (a joint ESA-JAXA mission). This mission was launched on October 18, 2018, from the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, with an arrival at Mercury scheduled for late 2026.
The recruited person will benefit from the support of the scientific and IT teams involved in MEA at IRAP, as well as the technical teams involved at CDPP.
