Missions

In order to increase the energy absorption of lattice structures, one idea is to play on the architecture, in particular by creating architectures capable of stopping or delaying the global collapses that can be observed on periodic lattice structures. The idea is to introduce interfaces analogous to grain boundaries at the scale of the lattice structure. This is the main objective of the project MIRACLES (MIcrotreillis Résilients inspirés d'Analogues en plasticité CristaLlinE), funded by the french Research Agency, ANR (2024-2028).

Activités

The aim of this Post Doc is to focus on the design, manufacture, structural and mechanical characterization of the most promising architectures.
- From a design point of view, in close interaction with the IA and bicrystallography simulations carried out by the partner laboratories (one PhD and another post doc), the aim will be to propose the best solutions in terms of interface connectivity.
- The solutions selected will be fabricated by Laser Powder Bed Fusion
- They will be characterized, notably in terms of defects inherited from the process, benefiting from the laboratory's expertise in X-ray tomography.
- They will then be mechanically characterized in compression. The various energy absorption parameters will be quantified.
- Analysis of the results will enable constructive feedback with numerical modelling.

Compétences

- experience in metal additive manufacturing.
- experience in metallurgical analysis, 3D characterization.
- experience in characterizing mechanical behavior (compression, traction).

Contexte de travail

The post-doc will take place at the SIMAP laboratory, under the supervision of Rémy Dendievel and Arthur Despres, with interactions with the other participants in the ANR “MIRACLES” project: the LEM3 laboratory in Metz and the PIMM laboratory in Paris. Regular meetings will be held between the various partners.
