Missions
The Institute is carrying out a fundamental study on the understanding of the reaction mechanisms behind the catalytic properties of porous hybrid materials MOFs (Metal Organic Frameworks) type and carbon nitrides for the conversion of CO2. This knowledge of the mechanisms through the implementation of quantum calculations aims to establish structure-property relationships in order to be able to envisage the optimisation of the catalytic properties of these systems.
Activités
Molecular modelling of the catalytic reaction mechanism for the CO2 conversion into methanol by applying Density Functional Theory calculations to the family of MOFs and carbon nitrides.
Compétences
Expertise in the field of DFT applied to porous solids and their catalytic properties.
Contexte de travail
The H2020 Societal challenges project METHASOL (International cooperation for selective conversion of CO2 into Methanol under solar light) in collaboration with a consortium of Chinese laboratories focuses on the study of two types of materials for applications related to CO2 conversion: porous hybrid materials (MOFs-Metal Organic Frameworks) type and carbon nitrides. The CNRS laboratories (ICGM, ENS, ILV, LCS) in this project are involved for their expertise in the synthesis, characterization and physico-chemical properties of MOFs and carbon nitrides for CO2 capture for photo-catalytic reduction.
