Missions
As part of a research program focused on the development of attention and perception, the Institute of Cognitive Sciences (ISC) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher. We have recently observed a major acceleration of visual perception during development, particularly during the first year of life. What might be the consequences of this acceleration on the information that infants are able to extract from their environment? This project, coordinated by Dr. Jean-Rémy Hochmann, aims to better understand how infants see the world and thus better describe their visual input, which constrains our learning models. You will be responsible for designing experiments, acquiring and processing data, and writing scientific articles.
Activities
Research activities involve designing experiments using behavioral methods, neuroimaging (fMRI or fNIRS) and eye tracking in human infants and adults, collecting and processing data, participating in weekly team meetings and actively participating in the scientific activities of the team and the institute.
Skills
The ideal candidate must have: - a PhD in cognitive neuroscience or related fields; - experience with EEG, fNIRS or fMRI; - solid knowledge of statistical methods, proficiency in programming (e.g. Matlab, Python, Javascript, R); - willingness to work in a team; - autonomy and strong motivation - fluency in spoken and written English; Speaking French is not a requirement.
Work Context
The Cognitive Neuropsychology and Development team at the Marc Jeannerod Institute of Cognitive Sciences (ISC) is at the forefront of research on infant cognitive development. Our mission is to explore the fundamental mechanisms of cognitive development during the first months and years of life. The ISCMJ offers all the equipment and human resources to develop competitive research. Located in Bron, in the building of the Institute of Cognitive Sciences, in close proximity to the hospital facilities, the ISC has 120 people collaborating in an environment dedicated to neuroscience research. Our research teams, with their multidisciplinary skills, address a multitude of themes including perception, motor plasticity, attentional processes, decision-making, motivation, and social cognition. Join our team to contribute to groundbreaking discoveries on the development and function of the human brain!
