Missions
The research engineer will be tasked with carrying out and interpreting isotopic analyses on horse teeth from the collection of Eq. Przewalski skulls from the Causse Méjean in order to carry out studies coupled with the other analyses carried out as part of the Hippographies project. The results will be published in the form of articles for international journals and as a chapter in an archaeological site monograph (Pech Maho fauna at Sigean). Scientific outreach work will support the setting up of an exhibition on the history of horses, in which the engineer will participate by delivering a poster-type panel on a Roll Up.
Activities
Taking charge of bone and dental samples; isotopic analyses on various partner spectrometry platforms (Toulouse, Aix, Montpellier); writing articles in French and English; producing exhibition panels; taking part in seminars; taking part in setting up the Hippographies project exhibition and associated scientific outreach activities.
Skills
Archaeozoology, palaeoecology, isotopic biochemistry, archaeology; mastery of computer tools and archaeozoological data processing in realtions with the results of isotopic assays; adaptability and experience in scientific mediation.
Work Context
The research engineer will be hosted in the archaezoology laboratory of the ASM unit (UMR5140) and will have access to the samples taken as part of the project; he/she will be in direct contact with the analysis platforms and the sample dispatches; the related expenses will be covered by the Project. Working hours are from 9am to 5pm with a lunch break.
