Missions

Research and developement of sientific applications related to the estimation of soil moisture from space using L-band measurements in the context of the preparation of the satellites FRESCH/SMOS-HR. Sensitivity analysis of the quality of the soil moisture retrievals as a function of several parameters for the definition of the missions concept. Collaboration with the SMOS-HR project team funded by the CNES TOSCA SMOS-HR project.

Activités

Data analysis of passive micro-waves observations to study the hydrological state of continental surfaces. Work with airborne and satellite remote sensing observations. Running downscaling algorithms to improve the spatial resolution. Analysis of multi-incidence brightness temperatures to estimate soil moisture.

Compétences

Knowledge of the SMOS missions and relevant algorithms.
Knowledge of passive micro-waves and radiation transfert.
Downscaling methods for L-band data.
Good skills in array programming in Matlab.
English proficiency and projet management skills. Good writing and oral communication skills.
Team work skills and ability to collaborate with colleagues from different fields.

Contexte de travail

The applicant will join the passive microwaves group of the Physics of the measurement team at CESBIO. She/he will also collaborate with the Space Missions axe at CESBIO.

The position takes place in a scientific/technical protection sector. An specific authorization by required.
