Missions
The recruited engineer will reinforce the “single molecule biophysics” and “mechanobiology” themes. In this context, the engineer will participate in the fabrication of microfluidic devices and their integration into a microscopy system for the study of biological phenomena. (S)he will develop lithography approaches for the nanofabrication of flow cells to study the mechanical properties of tissues and living cells, and the analysis of DNA at the scale of single molecules and biomolecular condensates.
Activités
- Develop and formalize protocols for nanofabrication of flow cells in the clean room
- Design and plan electron lithography patterns
- Test and calibrate flow cells
- Nanofabricate flow cells by soft lithography and electron lithography
- Coordinate the operation of flow cells and conduct experiments with them as part of a microscopy system
- Manage technical, human and financial resources related to clean room cooperation
- Provide training in nanofabrication and the use of flow cells
- Advise users on how to implement them in compliance with operating standards
Compétences
- Experience with soft lithography, electron lithography and optical microscopy methods
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and issues related to single-molecule biophysics and biomolecular condensates
- Fluency in scientific and technical English
- Health and safety regulations
- Biological knowledge
- Enthusiasm to work in an interdisciplinary environment
- Ability to lead and structure meetings
Contexte de travail
The engineer will work in the “Mechanisms of Chromatin Patterning” team within the Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology Unit of the CBI Toulouse. (S)he will support all team members in developing techniques for analyzing single molecules, cells and multicellular communities using microfluidic devices. Part of the work will be carried out in the clean room of the Laboratoire d'Analyse et d'Architecture des Systèmes (LAAS) in Toulouse. The engineer will work in close collaboration with the microscopy platform at CBI.
