Missions

A 10-months, non-renewable, postdoctoral fellow position is available in the “Cell Cycle & Cancer” team at the Centre for Integrative Biology/MCD UMR5077, in Toulouse, France (https://cbi-toulouse.fr/eng/equipe-besson) for highly motivated and talented candidates interested in the regulation of the cell division cycle and in the biology of glioblastoma cancer stem cells.
The team is interested in deciphering the mechanisms by which the cell cycle machinery coordinates different cellular processes and how the deregulation of these mechanisms contributes to tumor development.
This project aims at studying the regulation of the mitotic kinase Citron Kinase in cytokinesis and testing the use of mitotic kinase inhibitors to target glioblastoma cancer stem cells.

Activités

The selected candidates will:
-actively participate in the conception of the project
-use and develop methodologies according to the need of the project
-perform experiments
-analyze and present data
-participate in writing research and review articles
-present the results
The candidate will use a broad panel of approaches in cell biology (imaging [live and fixed cells], cytometry, tissue culture, glioblastoma cancer stem cell spheroid culture) and molecular biology and biochemistry (recombinant protein production, kinase assays, co-IP, PLA, cloning…) on primary cells and cell lines.

Compétences

Candidates (M/F) must hold a PhD and have strong skills in molecular and cellular biology. Prior experience with tumor spheroid cultures and a deep knowledge of mitosis/cytokinesis is required. The candidate must have a strong publication record, be rigorous, and have strong organizational and teamwork skills. The candidate must be able to communicate in English (written/oral), knowledge of French is not mandatory.

Contexte de travail

Founded in 2016, the Centre for Integrative Biology of Toulouse (CBI; http://cbi-toulouse.fr/eng/) is an institute regrouping three research departments in Biological Sciences of the University of Toulouse and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). It is located in Toulouse, South West of France, in the main Campus of the Université Toulouse III-Paul Sabatier (http://www.univ-tlse3.fr/), which offers a multidisciplinary education in the fields of science, health, engineering, and technology, developing one of the most important scientific research clusters in France.
The CBI currently brings together in a brand new research building more than 400 scientists in 40 research teams with worldwide recognition, aimed to foster research leading to the elucidation of fundamental aspects of the structure and function of complex biological systems, and covering all scales from individual molecules to the whole organism and population.
