Missions

In this post-doctoral project, the candidate will work on the formulation and characterisation of coacervates, used to drive chemical and enzymatic reactions. In particular, enzymatic reactions will be studied in these model compartments. Microfluidics will be used to quantify these reactions. The enzymatic activities will be linked to the physicochemical properties of the coacervates. This project is part of the ANR CHEMinDROPS in collaboration with Dr. Valérie Desvergnes (ARNA, Bordeaux). The candidate will also interact with doctoral and post-doctoral students involved in this project.

Activities

- Formulation of coacervates
- Characterisation of various physicochemical properties (viscosity, polarity, etc.)
- Fabrication and use of microfluidic chips
- Quantification of enzymatic reactions by spectroscopy
- Optical microscopy acquisitions
- Image and data analysis

Skills

PhD in physical chemistry/soft matter/materials science (or equivalent) with experience in microfluidics and/or coacervation.
- Highly motivated with solid experimental skills.
- Fluency in English (oral and written comprehension and expression)
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Creative thinking to develop new approaches and methods.

Work Context

The postdoctorate, funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR), will be carried out within the BioPhysioChimie team at the Paul Pascal Research Centre (http://www.crpp.cnrs.fr), a multidisciplinary research laboratory belonging to the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the University of Bordeaux (UB). The CRPP is organised into 6 teams comprising chemists, biochemists, physical chemists and physicists. The team and laboratory are equipped with cutting-edge scientific facilities, from synthesis to characterisation of soft matter.
