Missions

The Postdoctoral fellow will investigate the thermal transport of nanocontacts between two solids (crystalline and amorphous) without and with the presence of water. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and Finite Elements Method (FEM) will be employed to compute local heat flux and phonon transmission across these contacts.

Activities

Atomistic simulations to calculate the thermal boundary resistance of:
- Pb-Ge interfaces
- Pb-SiO2 interfaces
- PB-Au interfaces.
In all 3 systems, the presence of native oxide and water will be studied in details.

Skills

The successful candidate should have a backround in Physics, Physical Chemistry or Material Science. He/she should have knowledge and proved taste for solid state physics (phonons, thermal conductivity), atomistic simulations (LAMMPS) as well as modeling and basic programming (fortran or C or python). Good communication skills and english writing are requested.

Work Context

The Postdoctoral fellow will work at the Centre for Energy and Thermal Sciences of Lyon (CETHIL) in INSA of Lyon, under the supervision of K. Termentzidis (CNRS Research Director) and S. Gomes (CNRS Research Director). He/She will integrate the MiNT group (MIcro and Nanoscale heat Transfer) which contains 3 CNRS researchers, 2 Ass. Professors and around 10 PhD and Postdoctoral fellows.
