Job Description

Missions

- Investigate spin-to-charge and orbital-to-charge conversion in Rashba heterostructures.
- Develop two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG)-based systems for the efficient generation of charge currents from spin and orbital currents.
- Quantify the efficiency of the conversion mechanisms and identify the conditions required to achieve large output signals at room temperature.
- Contribute to the fundamental understanding of spin-to-charge and orbital-to-charge conversion phenomena in oxide materials.

Activity

- Growth of heterostructures by magnetron sputtering.
- Magnetic and magnetotransport characterization of the samples.
- Device fabrication using UV photolithography.
- Ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) and spin-pumping experiments.
- Experimental data analysis and modelling.
- Preparation of technical reports, scientific publications, and conference presentations.

Your Profil

Skills

- Strong background in magnetism and spintronics.
- Hands-on experience in ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) and magnetization dynamics.
- Experience with optical and/or electron-beam lithography techniques.
- Experience in thin-film growth by magnetron sputtering.
- Programming skills for scientific data acquisition and analysis (Python and/or LabVIEW are an asset).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and scientific writing skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary research team.

Your Work Environment

- The project will be carried out at the Laboratoire Albert Fert (CNRS, Thales, Université Paris-Saclay), located in Palaiseau, France.
- The successful candidate will join a world-leading research environment in spintronics, oxide electronics, and quantum materials.
- The work will involve close collaboration with researchers, engineers, and PhD students specializing in thin-film growth, nanofabrication, and advanced characterization techniques.
- Access to state-of-the-art facilities for materials growth, microfabrication, magnetic characterization, and electronic transport measurements will be provided.

Constraints and risks

- The project involves extensive experimental work requiring a high level of rigor in sample preparation, device fabrication, and data analysis.
- Regular use of cleanroom facilities and advanced scientific instrumentation.
- Research activities may involve iterative optimization of materials and device performance.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex physical phenomena at the interface of condensed matter physics, materials science, and spintronics.
- Strong attention to experimental reproducibility and data quality.
