The main lines of research developed by the hosting team (led by Pedro Ramaciotti) relate to social media, the web AI, and politics. For this position, we seek to develop the análisis of web and social media data using AI methods, as well as investigating AI models themselves. We are looking for candidates with strong computational and mathematical skills, and experience working autonomously with large AI models and big dataset. We publish in computer science conference, interdisciplinary journals, and social science journals (sociology and political sciences).
Some of the topics we develop, include : misinformation, polarization, online politics, social platform and AI policy.
Activités
The activities to be carried out by the selected candidate include :
- Conducting autonomous exploratory data analysis ;
- Proposing research designs tackling relevant questions and communicating and coordinating with members of the hosting team ;

Compétences
- Mathematical and statistical proficiency, we are looking for candidates from applied mathematics, physics, computer sciences or social sciences with outstanding skills in quantitative methods ;
- Provable experience working with social media data, specially very large datasets (we typically work with datasets of up to several TBs depending on the case study);
- Autonomy to conduct independent analysis and research on our (GPU/CPU) servers, familiarity with coding frames in machine learning and AI ;
- The candidate must have a provable record of transforming results from analysis in scientific publications addressing communities concerned by social media analysis, and platform policy and regulation ;
- The ideal candidate will have experience working in computational social sciences teams in demanding roles in data analysis an developing AI tools ;
- Having previous experiences in the French research ecosystem is an advantage, as we work with several French-specific datasets in regulation-related applications ;
Contexte de travail
