Missions
Participate in the experimental program and operation of the VAMOS spectrometer.
The VAMOS spectrometer is a high acceptance spectrometer with unique capabilities for isotopic identification of reaction products at energies near the Coulomb barrier. The VAMOS spectrometer can be coupled to gamma-ray or charged particle detector arrays, opening up many possibilities in physics, ranging from nuclear dynamics to the nuclear structure of exotic nuclei.
Activités
The candidate will be involved in the scientific activity of the FIRE group dedicated to the study of the fission mechanism and the experimental developments associated with the VAMOS spectrometer. The scientific program carried out by the candidate will benefit from the unique combination of the VAMOS spectrometer with the new PISTA charged particle detector set, which will allow to reach new limits of experimental sensitivity to study the fission mechanism
Principal Activities:
- Participate in the installation of detection devices and associated electronics for the fission experimental experiments at VAMOS.
- Contribute to the support of the experiments during the VAMOS experimental campaigns at GANIL.
- To analyze the data obtained during the experiments planned during the VAMOS experimental campaign in 2023-2024 associated with the scientific themes of the FIRE group on the study of the fission mechanism of actinides and pre-actinides.

Contexte de travail
The "Grand Accélérateur National d'Ions Lourds" is a national research infrastructure based on the use of ion beams. The fields of research include fundamental research in nuclear physics and nuclear astrophysics, materials under irradiation and nanostructuring, molecular collisions and the interstellar medium, radiobiology and innovative techniques for dosimetry and therapy of certain cancers. GANIL (about 270 people) is located in Caen, Normandy. GANIL is located on the future EPOPEA science and innovation park of the urban community of Caen la Mer. It is jointly managed, within an Economic Interest Group (EIG), by the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA/DRF) and the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS/IN2P3). As a research infrastructure, GANIL serves a national, European and international scientific community of about a thousand users.
The person recruited will be assigned to the FIRE thematic group composed of 9 people including 2 PhD students within the Research Activities group (GAR). This group is integrated into the Physics Division where the DELPH group (Detection and Laser for Physics) and the GTA group (Acquisition Techniques) are also located.
The contractual agent recruited by the CNRS will benefit from a number of leaves of 53 days (32 CA and 21 JRTT) with a weekly work cycle of 40h/week that is to say 8:25 am - 5:10 pm with 45 minutes of lunch break, and the advantages of the social actions committee for the CNRS agents of GANIL
Contraintes et risques
GANIL is classified as a nuclear installation (INB), the position is eligible for special work constraints related to potential exposure to ionizing radiation. The person must be authorized to work in a supervised and controlled area in compliance with the regulations and procedures applicable to nuclear security and safety.
