Job Description
Missions
The Interdisciplinary Center for Research in Biology (CIRB) is a research institute established in 2011 with the aim of bringing together and fostering dialogue among a wide variety of disciplines, all of which are interested in an integrated view of the living world. The UMR therefore does not focus on a single primary scientific question, and the research conducted by its 20 teams is extremely diverse. Three major themes stand out, constituting the unit's three departments: neuroscience, cell biology, and ecology and evolutionary science. The originality of the work carried out here lies in its interdisciplinary nature and in combining approaches at the intersection of biology and several other disciplines, notably mathematics, physics, anthropology, archaeology, and medicine.
The apprentice will be assigned to the Ecology & Evolution department and, more specifically, to the Ecology and Evolution of Health team. The general context of the work will be women's health, with a focus on the vaginal microbiome and genomic sequencing data.
The apprentice's main objectives will be to learn how to:
• Process and analyze omics data (metabarcoding, metagenomics, transcriptomics),
• Explore multi-omics analyses to perform data integration,
• Develop pipelines and containers to enable the reuse of approaches in a F.A.I.R. framework,
• Present analysis results by tailoring the presentation to different audiences,
• Use a computing cluster to process massive datasets,
• Conduct literature reviews on omics tools and techniques,
• Participate in team and department activities, particularly through team meetings and research seminars.
To carry out these tasks, the apprentice will be supervised by the engineer responsible for overseeing the department's bioinformatics projects. She will also collaborate with team members on specific projects related to the objectives of her internship.
Your Profil
We are looking for a bioinformatics master's student with a range of skills, including:
• advanced knowledge of algorithms and programming using low-level languages (such as C) and high-level languages (such as R or Python),
• strong knowledge of data science, deep learning, and biostatistics,
• strong knowledge of cell biology,
• knowledge of biomathematics or biophysics is a plus,
• a desire to work collaboratively
• attention to detail and strong organizational skills
