Job Description

Thesis Subject

This PhD project aims to understand how the brain perceives time, evaluates its own temporal errors, and adapts behavior accordingly. The project will combine behavioral studies in rodents and humans, electrophysiological recordings (EEG, LFP, and single-unit activity), and computational modeling to investigate the neural circuits underlying interval timing, performance monitoring, and metacognition.

The PhD candidate will work in an international and interdisciplinary research environment at the interface of systems neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, and computational neuroscience.

Your Work Environment

The PhD project will be conducted at NeuroPSI (Paris-Saclay Institute of Neuroscience, CNRS/Université Paris-Saclay) within an international research environment that brings together teams specializing in cognitive, systems, and computational neuroscience. The PhD candidate will join a team investigating the neural mechanisms underlying time processing, performance monitoring, and metacognition, employing comparative approaches involving both rats and humans.

The project will integrate behavioral experiments, electrophysiological recordings (EEG, LFP, single-unit activity), advanced data analysis, and computational modeling. The candidate will receive close supervision and participate in team scientific meetings, institute seminars, and national and international collaborations. They will also have access to state-of-the-art technological platforms for experimental and computational neuroscience, as well as an environment that fosters the development of interdisciplinary skills and scientific mobility.
