Description of the thesis topic

We are interested here in two types of artificial neurons based on two distinct concepts: an optomechanical neuron as a photonic interface for on-demand generation of 800 nm optical pulses, and an ultra-fast nanophotonic neuron for stimulus integration. This will enable us to consider a new hybrid photonic-optomechanical platform for integrated neuromorphic computing in order to interface different types of neurons.
In addition to the technological challenge of connecting two distinct platforms, such an innovative architecture may also offer the advantage of combining the outputs of several optomechanical neurons with the all-optical neuron in order to benefit from the latter's greater processing bandwidth.

Work Context

The work will be carried out at the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology located on the Saclay plateau. The candidate will join the Photonics Department.
The C2N is equipped with a large micro-nano-fabrication clean room and numerous photonics laboratories.
The position is in a sector subject to scientific and technical potential protection (PPST) and therefore, in accordance with regulations, requires your arrival to be authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
