Job Description
Thesis Subject
As part of the project Radical Communities: Transdisciplinary Approaches and Alternative Methods (2026–2029), funded by the Safe Place for Science (Amidex) program, we propose a doctoral research topic focused on the study of contemporary radical political formations in a context of democratic crisis and ecological emergency. The project approaches radicality as a set of political, social, and aesthetic practices that engage with root causes while simultaneously producing forms of collective belonging.
Your Work Environment
This position is part of a Safe Place for Science AMIDEX Chair (Aix-Marseille University) and is hosted within the Centre Norbert Elias (UMR8562), a multidisciplinary research laboratory in anthropology, sociology, history, information and communication studies, and linguistics. The project combines multi-sited empirical research, seminars, publications, and audiovisual productions as integral components.
Detailed Activities :
1/Collective Research
-Participate in collective research activities: literature review, fieldwork, and conceptual development.
- Contribute to research-creation outputs (audiovisual or experimental formats), where relevant.
2/Event Organization :
- Assist in organizing the project seminar (2027–2028) and public events.
3/ Scientific Production
-Participate in the collective publication emerging from the project.
4/ Disciplinary Approaches
-Work at the intersection of anthropology, sociology, political theory, and artistic research.
