Description du sujet de thèse

As part of a European project conducted in collaboration with Ghent University (Belgium) and several European universities and industrial partners, the thesis will focus on the synthesis of new catalysts; the study of the mechanism, active sites, and kinetics of catalytic hydrogenation of carbon dioxide for methanol production using advanced techniques such as operando and in situ, isotopic labeling, and kinetic experiments in transient and continuous regimes. The thesis will be carried out under joint supervision. Upon successful completion, the candidate will be awarded a doctoral degree from Centrale Lille Institut, as well as a doctoral degree from Ghent University.

Contexte de travail

The Unit of Catalysis and Chemistry of Solids (UCCS, UMR 8181 CNRS) brings together 105 researchers and faculty members, 32 technical and administrative staff, an average of 80 doctoral students, and 20 postdoctoral researchers. The unit has several sites in the Lille and Lens regions.
The researcher will work on the Villeneuve d'Ascq site at the Centrale Lille Insitute The scientific activities of the UCCS cover three areas: heterogeneous catalysis and molecular catalysis and chemistry, and solid-state chemistry. Within the "Heterogeneous Catalysis" axis, the doctoral student will work under the supervision of Dr. Andrei Khodakov.
The preparation of catalysts will be carried out in the laboratories of the Catalysis Pilot Hall or at the École Centrale de Lille. The catalysis part by FTIR spectroscopy and transient kinetic experiments with isotopic markers will be conducted in Building C3 (next to the Pilot Hall). The work will be organized in campaigns in one or the other of the two buildings.
As part of the European project, the candidate will participate in progress meetings organized in Lille or in partner laboratories in Belgium, during which the doctoral student will present their results. If necessary, the doctoral student will also participate in national or international conferences to present the obtained results.

Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.

Contraintes et risques

The researcher will work with pressurized reactors. Other risks include exposure to chemicals, gases, stable isotopes, and X-rays in the work environment (X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction). The position is in a sector subject to the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST) and therefore requires, in accordance with regulations, that your arrival be authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
