Job Description
Thesis Subject
The candidate will perform genetic modifications on mesenchymal stromal cells in order to enrich the extracellular vesicles emitted by these cells with targeted biological effectors, in particular to obtain tolerogenic extracellular vesicles. He/she will establish modified cell lines and contribute to protocols for the bioproduction and characterization of extracellular vesicles from the modified cells for applications in reconstructive medicine, particularly in the context of kidney transplantation.
Your Work Environment
The new multidisciplinary NABI unit (Nanomedicine, Extracellular Biology, Integratoma and Innovations in Health), on the Saint Germain Campus of the University of Paris Cité (45 rue des Saints Pères, 75006 Paris) was created on January 1, 2025 and brings together about 70 physicists, biologists, pharmacists, engineers and doctors, including about thirty permanent staff, under the supervision of the CNRS, of INSERM and Université Paris Cité. NABI's scientific objectives are to develop new therapies based on biological (extracellular vesicles) or synthetic (activatable metal nanoparticles) nano-objects for the delivery of personalized therapies for difficult-to-treat pathologies. TThe study of nanoobjects in biological fluids requires transdisciplinary approaches (physics, engineering, cellular and molecular biology, immunology, etc.) up to clinical practice and dedicated technical and analytical resources (super-resolution microscopy, nanoprobes, microfluidics, etc.) as well as a systematic multimodal and multiscale exploration whose analysis uses AI. These innovative methodologies are developed within NABI and in the industrial integrator IVETh, a technology hub dedicated to the characterization, bioproduction and engineering of extracellular vesicles and nanovectors for diagnosis and personalized therapies. The PhD student will join the multidisciplinary "Nanobiotherapies" team as part of the Sesame PIA Filière project funded by the BPI and the Region Ile de France, in collaboration with the InTherNA laboratory in Orléans and the CR2TI laboratory in Nantes.
