Job Description
Thesis Subject
This thesis explores the interactions between nanofluidic transport and the electronic properties of the walls. The main objective is to demonstrate the direct conversion of mechanical or chemical energy into electrical energy without any electrochemical processes. 2D graphite-based nanochannels will enable a detailed study of these interactions at the nanoscale. Finally, microfluidic devices using advanced materials (graphite, MXenes, nanotubes) will aim to optimise and validate this conversion on a larger scale.
Your Work Environment
The work will be carried out within the Micromegas team at the ENS Physics Laboratory, in a research environment specialising in nanofluidics, statistical physics and fluid dynamics. The PhD student will interact with researchers working on nanofluidics, interfacial phenomena and transport processes, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with theoretical groups in order to link experiments to measurable observables.
Constraints and risks
The project is primarily experimental. The exploratory and fundamental nature of the research means that the specific direction of the project may evolve depending on the interim results.
