Job Description
Thesis Subject
Atomistic modeling and machine learning applied to energy materials. Development of multi-physics frameworks integrating electronic response, structural disorder, and mechanical flexibility in nanoporous electrodes.
Condensed matter physics and theoretical materials chemistry, at the interface with electrochemistry and data science. Ab initio simulations, constant-potential molecular dynamics, and machine-learning interatomic potentials (MLIPs).
The performance of supercapacitors depends on complex atomistic mechanisms occurring within disordered electrodes. Current approaches provide only an incomplete description of electronic response and mechanical flexibility in realistic geometries. The integration of machine learning opens a new pathway toward large-scale predictive simulations.
Your Work Environment
The PhD thesis will be supervised by A. Marco Saitta (LPENS) (50%) and Andrea Grisafi (PHENIX) (30%), in close collaboration with Mathieu Salanne (PHENIX and CNRS@CREATE, Singapore) (20%).
A detailed work plan will be established at the beginning of the PhD and regularly adjusted according to methodological progress and the results obtained. Scientific supervision will be ensured through weekly meetings with at least one of the supervisors, as well as monthly meetings bringing together all supervisors, including regular exchanges with collaborators in Singapore whenever relevant.
