Description of the thesis topic

The Spatial Orientation team at the Université de Paris, has a fully-funded PhD studentship (PhD Program ED3C, 3 years fees and stipend) available to study the 'neurophysiology of vestibulo-thalamic pathway' under M. Beraneck's supervision. The position is open and should start no later than fall 2021.

The project aims at identifying, characterizing and manipulating vestibular subcircuits coupled to the head direction system. It will use neurophysiology techniques (viral tracing, electrophysiology, and quantitative behavioral measurements).

A suitable candidate would have a Master degree in Neuroscience with a solid background in ex vivo or in vivo electrophysiology, computational or system neuroscience, and a strong interest in obtaining biological understanding of brain mechanisms for control of behaviour.

Work Context

The INCC laboratory is located in Paris, in the heart of the St-Germain des Prés district. It brings together 100 researchers in cognitive and integrative neurosciences who work in humans and animals. It is a joint CNRS and University of Paris unit, which is located in the Faculty of Basic and Biomedical Sciences.
