Description du sujet de thèse
Artificial Intelligence for Functional Analysis of Neurovascular Coupling in the Human Retina at Cellular Resolution
Contexte de travail
This PhD project is part of the ERC project MIRACLE-AD, which aims to characterize the mechanisms of neurovascular coupling (NVC) in the human retina — a key physiological process whose early dysfunction is linked to Alzheimer's disease.
The team has developed a new cellular-resolution imaging technology, the AO-RSO (Adaptive Optics Rolling-Slit Ophthalmoscope), enabling in vivo visualization of red blood cell dynamics and vascular diameter changes during NVC.
The goal of the PhD is to leverage these unique datasets using advanced artificial intelligence methods to automatically analyze blood-flow velocity, vessel diameter, and the functional response of the retinal vascular network.
The project involves close collaboration with the Quinze-Vingts National Ophthalmology Hospital (Paris Eye Imaging) and AI experts at Télécom Paris.
Contraintes et risques
The position involves occasional on-site presence at both Institut Langevin (Paris) and Télécom Paris (Saclay).
