Description du sujet de thèse

This PhD thesis is in line with a cutting edge theme of sustainable development and green chemistry, based on the eco-design of polymers from renewable resources.

The aim is to develop a new generation of biobased and recyclable polyurethanes for the construction industry, as part of a European project.

From an academic point of view, this thesis relates to polymer science and engineering. The subject is highly cross-disciplinary, ranging from synthesis to application.

More specifically, the aim will be to develop new macromolecular architectures based on biobased or recycled compounds, while integrating an eco-design approach to enable the obtained materials to be recycled at the end of their life.

This thesis will focus on the synthesis of monomers (macromers) and polymers and their chemical, physicochemical and physical characterisation.

This doctoral work will go right through to application, with aspects of materials development being carried out in direct collaboration with industry, in particular the international company Soprema.

Contexte de travail

Funding for the project and the PhD has already been secured through a European project involving 12 academic and industrial partners.

The PhD student will be employed on a 3-year CNRS contract, with remuneration based on the CNRS salary scale. The PhD student (M/F) will be attached to ED 182.

His research work will be directed by Professor Eric Pollet within the research group "Biobased and Renewable Polymers (BioTeam)" of the ICPEES institute (UMR CNRS 7515) at the University of Strasbourg, France (university of excellence in chemistry).

The BioTeam group is a world-class team in the field of bio-based and renewable polymer materials, with extensive experience in developing new bio-based materials for the construction sector.

Attractive position: on-site university catering, easy access by public transport.

Skills:
- solid training and knowledge in polymer science (synthesis and characterization)
- strong awareness of sustainable development and green chemistry in general.
- Willing to enrich his/her skills in a thesis involving various partners (academic and industrial).
- serious, committed, autonomous and enthusiastic about their work - good interpersonal and communication skills.
- level of English at least equivalent to B2 according to the European reference framework (writing of reports, articles and presentation of results within the framework of the European project).

To apply: Candidates should send a detailed CV and covering letter, their Master's grades/ranking, as well as the contact details of referees and, where appropriate, letters of recommendation.

Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.
