Description of the thesis topic

The main goal of the project is to quantify the source and processes occurring during the formation of the highly differentiated Beauvoir granite (French Massif Central). To this end, a detailed isotopic and petrological study of the historical drilling core will be undertaken following three main tasks. Task 1 will focus on source determination, task 2 on a quantification of the differentiation process; and task 3 will provide a high resolution time frame of the processes (Zircon U/Pb).

Work Context

CRPG (UL-CNRS) will be the host laboratory, which has an international reputation for its petrological and geochemical expertise. The successful applicant will be part of the “Magmas & Fluides profonds” group. The project is part of a larger inter-laboratory and multi-disciplinary effort to understand the Beauvoir granite, supported by the “Labex” R21, providing a dynamic research environment (multiple post-docs and PhDs).
