Job Description
Thesis Subject
Study of the mechanisms by which the mechanical environment of microcirculation, including interactions with red blood cells, influences adhesion, mechanotransduction and migration of nucleated cells. The project aims to determine how mechanical stresses, containment and cellular interactions change the properties and behavior of cancer or immune cells. It will combine cell culture, microfluidic, fluorescence microscopy, immunolabeling and quantitative image analysis to link mechanical stimuli to cellular responses.
Your Work Environment
The doctoral student will be welcomed in an interdisciplinary environment at the interface between biophysics, fluid mechanics and cell biology, within a laboratory affiliated with the CNRS and Aix-Marseille University. The project is part of the HECTOR ANR and is based on experimental cell culture, microfluidics and advanced microscopy platforms, with close interactions between physicists and biologists.
Constraints and risks
Experimental work involving the manipulation of cells in the laboratory, requiring compliance with biological safety rules. Complexity of microfluidic devices and biomechanical measurements, requiring experimental rigor and reproducibility. Interdisciplinary environment involving a strong adaptability.
