Description du sujet de thèse

In the thesis work, which is part of a combined experimental+theoretical ANR project “Gold Nanoclusters' Optical response as determined by Matrix and Environment” (GNOME), we will study the effect of embedding metal clusters in solid matrices. The treatment of the interaction of the clusters with their environment as well as the interaction of adjacent clusters will take an important place in the thesis work. This includes the interaction with ligands, as well as the treatment of the surfaces / interfaces. The calculations will be compared, throughout the project, with the state-of-the-art experimental results using both optical spectroscopy on physically made clusters. We will primarily use Time-Dependent Density-Functional Theory (TDDFT) in its Real-Time formulation.

Contexte de travail

The candidate will be integrated into CINaM's Numerical Theory and Simulation Department.

Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.

Contraintes et risques

-The position for which you are applying is in a sector covered by the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST) and therefore requires, in accordance with regulations, that your arrival be authorized by the competent authority.

Informations complémentaires

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in ab initio calculations, in particular using time-dependent density-functional theory in its real-time (time evolution) formalism. Working knowledge of one of the code packages octopus or GPAW is desired. In addition, the candidate must have shown the ability of code writing / programming. A master degree in physics or a related field is required. Knowledge of plasmonic nanostructures is highly desirable for the position.
