Description du sujet de thèse

Today, the recycling and reuse of battery components at the end of their life cycle is a responsible and essential approach, and one that needs to be explored in order to meet current challenges (development of electric mobility and the resulting demand for transition element salts). The aim of this thesis is to study the cyclability and recyclability of Li-ion and Na-ion system materials. The first part will be devoted to the study of the cyclability of materials: it will aim to establish links between the nature of precursors (notably from recycling), synthesis methods, physical properties and electrochemical performance. Detailed characterizations will help identify the key indicators of good cyclability. The state of the art in recycling Li-ion materials will provide a basis for considering the transposition to Na-ion. The second part of the thesis will analyze recyclability: it will examine degradation mechanisms (chemical or electrochemical) and regeneration routes. Finally, the recycled materials will be evaluated by structural and electrochemical characterizations to estimate their reuse potential. This project is backed up by a research project being developed in Hauts-de-France, involving a consortium with one industrial and a second academic partner; the aim of this project is to propose sustainable solutions for recycling electrode materials in batteries, in line with the work being carried out at the LRCS.

Contexte de travail

This thesis work will be carried out at the LRCS in Amiens. The Laboratoire de Réactivité et de Chimie des Solides (LRCS), located at the Université de Picardie Jules Verne in Amiens, France, is a research unit associated with the CNRS. The research themes are developed around materials for energy storage and conversion. The present studies will contribute to the development of the “recycling theme”. The laboratory has a wide range of characterization equipment.

Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.
