Job Description

Thesis Subject

To understand why and how the PRMT5 mutation affects photosynthesis in Arabidopsis, with the aim of elucidating a previously undescribed link between R-met and photosynthetic function. The biochemical and structural characterization of the PRMT5 protein is also planned as part of the project

Your Work Environment

This thesis project is funded by the ANR PRC AGO-Rmet. The doctoral research will take place at the Aix-Marseille Institute of Biosciences and Biotechnology (UMR 7265 CEA/CNRS/Aix-Marseille University; BIAM). The Aix-Marseille Institute of Biosciences and Biotechnology (BIAM) is a Joint Research Unit (UMR) comprising approximately 100 permanent staff members and 50 non-permanent staff members (fixed-term contract employees, doctoral and postdoctoral students, and interns). The UMR is located at the CEA Cadarache site and on the Luminy Faculty of Sciences campus. BIAM's fundamental research projects aim to understand the mechanisms involved in living organisms' response to and adaptation of environmental stresses, as well as to develop technologies dedicated to preserving the quality of our environment. These projects are conducted using various multidisciplinary approaches on model organisms (algae, plants, bacteria) or on the most suitable organisms identified through biodiversity studies.
The doctoral student will be affiliated with the Luminy Plant Genetics and Biophysics (LGBP) team on the Marseille-Luminy Faculty of Sciences campus. The team consists of 20–25 people (including several faculty members/researchers, CEA and CNRS researchers, postdocs, PhD students, and interns), and the LGBP's expertise covers the acclimation of photosynthetic organisms to their environment, cellular signaling
